The Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Fundo de Energia, FP, Isália Dimene, took part in a panel discussion in Maputo today on the role of women and climate action in Mozambique, as part of the Women's Month celebrations.
The panel, on the theme "Female Empowerment in Climate Action: Towards a Sustainable Future", is part of the various activities commemorating women's month, which in the Mozambican context runs from March 8 (International Women's Day) to April 7 (Mozambican Women's Day).
In his speech, he pointed out the benefits that the various forms of intervention by FUNAE, FP have been generating in the lives of communities and, therefore, contributing to the energy transition that the country is making.
By way of example, he pointed to the large-scale benefits to communities following electrification through mini-grids, from improved access to health care and access to drinking water, among other gains.
Access to earnings, according to the PCA, poses the challenge of creating capacities for women to capitalize on energy to their advantage.
The panel also included Guilhermina Amurane, National Director of the Environment at the Ministry of Land and Environment; Nelma Araujo, Deputy National Director of Prevention and Mitigation - INGD and Tatina Marrufo, Head of the Technical Secretariat of the National Health Observatory - INS.
