Launched in April 2021, the credit line is the result of a partnership between UNIDO, BCI Bank, and the Energy Fund (FUNAE) with funding from the Global Environment Facility (GEF) under the Towards Sustainable Energy for All in Mozambique (TSE4ALLM) project. The SUPER credit line is a fund of around 60 million meticais and, as BCI Director Miguel Alves said, "The credit line takes the form of a guarantee fund for risk mitigation, with the expectation of simplifying the terms and conditions necessary for membership"
To date, 5 SMEs, namely Tsangano Agrifarms, Frangos de Mahubo LDA, Sheine Water LDA, SuperKwick LDA, and Cooprativa Agropecuária e Empreendimentos Rurais Lda have accessed the credit line to implement renewable energy projects for productive uses.
The BCI SUPER Credit Line for financing renewable energy systems for productive uses is the first of its kind in Mozambique, allowing small and medium-sized companies, individual entrepreneurs, associations, cooperatives and NGOs to access funds with attractive conditions, including a fixed annual interest rate of 7.5%.
